AWARD CEREMONY IN PARIS, FRANCE

After being selected from 1475 student entries from 137 educational institutions across 24 countries, I was invited to attend the award ceremony at La Caserne in Paris, France.

Being presented with the trophy at Europe's largest sustainable fashion accelerator hub was truly a memorable moment for me as I bagged the biggest worldwide accomplishment as the first Indian Fashion Design Student.

The award ceremony was followed by a cocktail event where an installation of the innovative concepts was viewable by the guests & leading industry experts present at the event.

The Award for Innovation Research Project with On Running was presented to me by Louis De Vos, Global Head of Talent Acquisition R&D, Design and Product at On.

THE CREATIVE
PROCESS

Through my concept, I wish to bring forth the needs of pregnant and post-partum runners by blending sports science with maternity-wear. My aim is to create maternity active wear that not only embraces the growing pregnant body but also works with the wearer’s body movement, instead of against it; all the while providing a snug fit, supporting both the mother and fetus in the correct areas, providing coolness when the body temperature rises, and monitoring the baby’s health using a Fetal Heart Rate Monitor.

I achieve this using a 28-gauge seamless circular knit with compression zones for support and a pocket for fetal heart-rate sensor. I also make use of ChillSense recycled polyamide yarn, which transfers the heat from the body to the fabric more quickly, thus creating a cool sensation.
